BROSIOMECCANICA, the textile division of the G TECHNOLOGIES group, has designed and built a new rotating ultrasonic cutting system (BM154R) to be installed at the output of quilting machines, allowing finished quilts to be ready for packaging.

The BM154R works on a quilt panel width of 3000 mm, consumes only 11 kW, and operates at a speed of 6 meters per minute with a total weight of approximately 300 g/m².

The use of rotating ultrasonic units allows for continuous bonding of nonwoven fabrics and padding at a faster speed compared to fixed-head ultrasonic systems, eliminating the need for any manual handling of the quilts. In this way, traditional edging with a sewing machine is no longer necessary.

The BM154R ultrasonic welding system is designed so that the layers of material to be welded do not shift, ensuring a flat, even seam with no wrinkles from start to finish.

With an electronic system developed by BROSIOMECCANICA, it is possible to control the amplitude of the ultrasonic units based on the speed of the quilting machine and the fabric weight. Settings, adjustments, and production quantities are managed via a touch screen terminal mounted on the machine.

All machines and systems produced by G TECHNOLOGIES SRL are certified as Industry 4.0 Ready, as they meet the requirements that enable access to the benefits provided by the National Industry 4.0 Plan.

In summary, the advantages of rotating ultrasonic welding are:
  • Very low energy consumption
  • High processing and operating speed
  • Accurate reproducibility of welding results
  • Continuous welding process
  • No material shifting, flat and wrinkle-free welds.
